About Correlate
Our mission is to equip marginalized communities with tools for embodied connection and belonging.
We bring somatic and relational tools (e.g. embodiment, movement, Authentic Relating) to marginalized communities, and facilitate bridge-building to foster connection among different communities to drive systemic change.
Beliefs and Values
We believe that being deeply present with ourselves, each other, and our environments allows us to show up authentically in relationship, deepen our trust, and build better relationships. We believe that systems are relational, and the systems and environments that we shape and that shape our lives are the outcomes of decisions and relationships. From a place of deep connection, we can build bridges within and across communities for collective healing and systemic change.
We ask questions like:
What is expanded in connection and possibility when we relate from the present moment and historical lens, self and collective, systems and relationships?
How do we be in loving relationship with one another despite different values, beliefs, worldviews, and ways of living?
What does belonging feel like in our bodies? How do our bodies know we belong?
How are our experiences of race, gender, sexuality, and so on, relational and interactive over identity-based?
When is belonging embodied, relational, or environmental/situational? How do these influence and interact with each other?
What can we learn from collective relating/healing vs. self relationship/healing? What are their limitations?
Does the environment I am in care for me? How can I care for my environment and community?
Where and how are our present moment experiences, emotions, and relationships impacted by history (somatic, ancestral, cultural, systemic)?
Is systemic liberation possible without internal and interpersonal liberation?
Does empathy have limits? When, how, and why?
Tenets
Every moment and experience is somatic, relational, systemic, and intersectional.
Curiosity over assumptions.
There is abundant space for connection in difference.
We cocreate our reality together.
